Just a quick post. If I can make something or make do instead of buying something I will... So for stitch markers I was using sandwich bag ties believe it or not ( the only thing I could find at the time) but these are pretty annoying to use as they catch on the yarn when your trying to put them through the stitch. So I had a think about what else I could use. Extra bits of yarn work but I crochet very tightly when making amigurumi figures so I had to find a needle, thread a needle, use the needle to get the thread in the stitch and then tie the yarn in place.....effort. Oh and then try to untie the yarn after it's managed to tighten itself up! I decided to try and make one out of craft wire. Be aware it's only a rough version. This is so simple to make and uses a tiny amount of wire. All I used was 20ga purple wire and a pair of pliers. I folded the very end of the wire over so that it wasn't sharp then wrap the wire around the pliers in a very rough spiral shape...

My Grandma bought me a pendant a while back I thought I'd try adding more detail to it by putting a small pendant on the front but then I came across a website and decided to have a go.  I already had some craft wire from making  Ear Cuffs Here's the finished pendant: It's very simple to do and many different variants can be made. One of my dream catchers broke which I'm not too happy about, but waste not want not, what could I do with the feathers?... So In addition to my Ear Cuffs  I decided to try making an earring. For this all I used was an old earring that I don't really like and have never worn and turned it into something I would wear. I've always liked feather earrings but never bought any so thought I'd give it a try.  Using the wire I used to make the Ear Cuffs  I made a small loop in the wire about an inch in from the end using pliers. I lay the feather along the inch of wire the thick part of the feather just under the loop. Using the pliers I made a coil as tight as I could around the feather and the inch of wire to keep the feather in place. When I was happy that the feather wasn't going to slip out I cut the wire and folded the end in so it wouldn't poke me constantly. I also trimmed a bit off the inch of wire at the end as it was a bit long.  (If none of this makes...

To make a change from crochet I decided to buy some wire. 20ga purple wire to be exact. I have always liked ear cuffs and thought I'd try to make some, only simple ones obviously. I added the stone from a broken bracelet that I had lying around. Then I tried another cuff seen as I made that one really quickly: I made this cuff from studying one on the Internet but there was no tutorial. This wasn't as easy to make, getting it evenly spaced was tricky.  I think I prefer the first one I made but here's a picture of them both being worn:  Enjoy this post?
